Annual summit

Volunteer classes

POLAND

Hospice of the Valley is offering a volunteer training class from noon to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 12 through Oct. 17, in the Hospice House conference room at 9803 Sharrott Road, on the campus of The Assumption Village. Volunteers serve as companions for hospice patients at home or in nursing homes as well as helping at the Hospice House inpatient facility. New volunteers are needed. Courses include: Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support, Initial or Refresher, Wednesday, Sept. 7, 9 a.m., fee $50 for initial and $32 for refresher; CPR/AED Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Course, Adult/Child/Infant, Sept. 17, 8 a.m., fee $32; Standard First Aid, Sept. 17, fee $32; Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens Course, Sept. 17, 4 p.m., fee $25.

Classes offered at JCC

YOUNGSTOWN

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, is offering Cardio Barren, a dance exercise, and Extreme Lean and Shred classes that utilize steps, weights, bars and bands, Sept. 5 through Dec. 28. Cardio Barre classes are from 5:30 to 6:25 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays; Extreme Lean from 6:30 to 7:25 p.m. on Mondays, and Shred from 6:30 to 7:25 p.m. on Wednesdays. Immunization clinics

NILES

The Niles City Health Department, 34 West State St., is offering immunization clinics for children on Sept. 7 and Sept. 21 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. No appointment is necessary. Shots are $3 each, but no one will be refused service because of inability to pay. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and the child’s shot records are required. Children should be feeling well the day of the clinic with no illness, fever or rash.
