POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 15

Theft: A $30 cord was removed from a car on Southwind Trail.

Theft: Someone in the 8300 block of Weatheredwood Trail took a global-positioning-system unit and an MP3 player from a vehicle.

Theft: A State College, Pa., woman in the 3600 block of Park Place reported a DVD player, a GPS device, an MP3 player and another item stolen from her vehicle, for an estimated $375 loss.

Theft: A GPS unit and a satellite radio were removed from a car in the 6500 block of North Carolina Place.

Theft: Pieces of golf equipment, numerous gift cards, a GPS device and other items were missing from a vehicle in the 7000 block of Clingan Road.

Aug. 16

Theft: A Struthers Road man reported the theft of a $150 MP3 player and an $80 music player.

Aug. 17

Theft: A Weatheredwood Trail woman discovered her $200 GPS unit missing.

Aug. 21

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular accident in the 7900 block of Struthers Road, then charged 25-year-old Russell C. Snyder, 2980 Autumnwood Trail, Poland, with operating a vehicle impaired.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 19

Assault: A worker for Burger King, 1403 Boardman-Canfield Road, told police a man in the drive-through pulled and slammed her arm against the window.

Assault: Officers responded to a fight at an East Midlothian Boulevard business, where a woman reported having been struck in the face.

Theft: Tabitha A. Kerr, 41, of 7500 Huntington Drive, Boardman, faced charges of theft and possession of criminal tools after 112 copper fittings were stolen from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 5400 block of Market Street led to the arrest of 30-year-old Carlos K. Vaughn, 151 E. Warren Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of obstructing official business when, police said, he provided a false name, date of birth and age. Vaughn also was wanted on a warrant.

Drugs: Officers on West Boulevard picked up Justin W. Baun, 738 Glen Park Road, Boardman, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Possible theft: An employee with Rite Aid Pharmacy, 307 Boardman-Canfield Road, told police she believed a woman may have stolen merchandise.

Theft: Patricia F. Reed, 38, and Andre M. Reed, 47, both of 2717 Burton St. SE, Warren, were charged with theft and possession of criminal tools after clothing and shoes had been stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road. Wire cutters also were found, a report showed.

Aug. 20

Assault: A man who pulled into a Market Street gas station after having been cut off by another driver told police the motorist grabbed his neck and threw the accuser against a vehicle, resulting in redness and scratches to the affected area.

Criminal damaging: Both mirrors were torn from a vehicle in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Littering: Someone illegally dumped road debris in a side parking lot in the 7300 block of Southern Boulevard.

Theft: Dusty M. Zembower, 23, of 12827 Springfield Road, New Springfield, was charged in the theft of a $20 T-shirt from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 60 block of Washington Boulevard. Stolen were a picture frame and a camera charger.

Drugs: Police responded to a disturbance at a Market Street motel before charging 40-year-old Jennifer K. Morelli, 702 Market, Youngstown, with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thirty-four Klonapin tablets with no prescription and a spoon with a yellow substance were in the room, a report said.

Aggravated menacing: Two West Boulevard men each reported having been threatened by the other regarding one of the men’s hanging fliers in the apartment complex.

Theft/criminal damaging: A vehicle at a Boardman-Poland Road dealership had a damaged dashboard. Stolen was an AM and FM radio/ compact-disc player.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 40 block of Buena Vista Avenue used a key to damage part of a car’s finish.

Harassment: A South Schenley Avenue woman reported her mother sent seven unwanted text messages.

Aug. 21

Domestic violence/assault: Authorities charged 33-year-old John P. Stewart, 2722 Shirley Road, Youngstown, with domestic violence and Rosa M. Stewart, 32, of 3536 Dover Road, Youngstown, with two counts of assault after answering a fight call in the 400 block of Mathews Road. A woman and her mother alleged Rosa Stewart had struck and punched them several times; John Stewart’s former girlfriend alleged he had punched her in the ribs.

Theft: Someone on foot stole $6 worth of food from an employee’s hand in the drive-through of Burger King, 1403 Boardman-Canfield Road, and gave it to a person in a vehicle there.

Aug. 22

Breaking and entering: Someone smashed a front window and entered The Sandwich Factory, 6128 Market St. Money from a collection jar was missing.

Theft: A boy reported the theft of his $200 bicycle while at a Market Street grocery store.

Theft: Money and two handkerchiefs were removed from a car at the Southern Park Mall.

Harassment: A woman in the 1700 block of Mathews Road reported receiving such text messages.

Theft: A man discovered his wallet missing at a Doral Drive business.

Identity theft: A teller with PNC Bank in the Southern Park Mall told authorities a woman in her 50s filled out a withdrawal slip for $2,700 using the name of another person who had never been to that branch.

Breaking and entering: Copper pipes were removed from the basement of a vacant home in the 70 block of Maple Drive.

Theft: A woman left a Boardman-Poland Road store and noticed her purse and an MP3 player missing from her vehicle.

Vandalism: A tenant at the Wagon Wheel Motel, 7015 Market St., stabbed and destroyed a mattress in the room.

Assault: A Forestridge Drive man alleged his mother’s boyfriend pushed and punched him during an argument about a garage-door opener.

Theft: Two men in their 20s stole merchandise from Shoe Carnival, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Fraud: A Fairfield Drive woman found out her debit card had been used in two unauthorized online transactions totaling $758.

Assault: A man told officers a driver had pulled in front of him on Indianola Road and nearly caused a collision, then grabbed and pushed the accuser.

Fraud: A Tara Drive man learned someone had hacked in to his son’s Xbox account on four occasions, for a loss of $100.

Theft: Fifteen to 30 trash bags containing aluminum cans, as well as pieces of metal, were taken from a residence in the 20 block of Crestline Place.

Breaking and entering: Police arrested 39-year-old Israel B. Lopez Jr., 1900 Brandon Ave., Poland, who was wanted on a warrant from Wadsworth, Ohio, related to a break-in in that city.
