Shocking consequences of debt

Shocking consequences of debt

As shocking as I think the great debt that our country is face dwith I also believe that past and present government officials have helped to cripple our country because of their irresponsible and wasteful spending.

Those who are entrusted with power must use that power with vision, wisdom, control and responsibly.

The trust and respect Americans like myself might have had for our government officials has been badly damaged. At the age of 81 to have a person’s livelihood threatened by the loss of their Social Security is shocking and has caused many sleepless nights.

Our government officials and all Americans are in need of a wake-up call. I may be wrong but it appears to me that our government at this time is divided instead of united.

The loss of jobs has damaged our economy, as well as many people’s lives. It’s time for our government to realize that “working hands can move mountains and idle hands grow weak.”

I was raised by parents who lived through the Great Depression. Perhaps that was the reason they seemed to have a saying for just about everything. With today’s problems in our country I’m reminded of a saying my father often said: “Show me a person who has known hard times and I’ll show you a person who sang the song, “Buddy, Can You Spare Me a Dime?”

Hopefully it won’t be much longer for Americans to enjoy the songs “Happy Days Are Here Again” and “We’re in the Money”.

America is still the greatest country in the world and may God continue to bless us always.
