Howland boys earn shutout

Alex Cornicelli, Brad Fields and Connor Gilmour each scored a goal as Howland shut out Beaver Local 3-0 in a boys soccer game on Tuesday night. Howland keeper Kurt Kuszmaul had two saves. Gilmour, Fields and Jacob Froats each had an assist for Howland. Beaver Local goalie Andrew Rice had five saves.

Cardinal Mooney 1, Canfield 0

Freshman Myles Harris scored his first goal of his high school career six minutes into the first game of the season for Cardinal Mooney. Clay Hicks assisted Harris on the lone goal of the game. Keeper Dalton Smith made four saves for Mooney, while Mike Thomas made two saves for Canfield.

Boardman 4, Poland 3

Luke Marsco, Matt Horvatich, Nico Graziani and Nico Di Lanni combined to score four goals for the Spartans. Anthony Calautti made nine saves for Boardman. Kevin Krumpak scored two goals for Poland, and Michael Kinkela added another. Poland keeper Troy Bole made 12 saves.

FITCH 8, WEST BRANCH 0

Nate Bowlen and Trevor Yacovone both scored twoce goals for Fitch, which opened its season. Chase Bartlett added a goal and two assists, while Ken Kilpatrick, Keanu Shelton and Chase Bartlett all scored once. Alex Smith also had two assists, while Kilpatrick and Kyle Kosco each had one. Nick Sheely had two saves for the Falcons. West Branch’s (0-2) Zach Minick had 12 stops.

GIRLS

Sydney Riddle led Laurel with two goals as the Gators defeated Ursuline 4-0. Nicole Felice also scored a goal for Laurel. Ursuline keeper Jessica McGeary made 13 saves. Rachel Piccusw made three saves for the Gators.

Lakeview 3, Hubbard 0

Lindsey Clark, Ali Pavlik and Rachael Herriman scored for Lakeview. Hubbard keeper Ellen Begeot made 18 saves, while Lakeview keeper Elaine Moldovan had one save. Ali Gagne had two assists and Herriman added another.

South Range 3, Warren JFK 0

Liz Meals scored two goals and Kendall Lindstrom added another as the Raiders shut out the Eagles. Toni Stephenson and Hannah Wiery each recorded an assist for South Range. Cat Schuler had six saves for the Raiders. Caley Kowach made 11 saves for Warren JFK.
