Browns tight end Evan Moore sustained a mild concussion in Cleveland’s preseason loss to Detroit on Friday and was held out of Sunday’s practice.
Moore caught two touchdown passes from Colt McCoy in the first half of Friday’s 30-28 loss. He wasn’t on the field Sunday as the Browns went through a morning workout.
Moore was injured when he got hit after a 17-yard reception in the second quarter.
Browns coach Pat Shurmur confirmed Moore has a concussion, but was “feeling better.”
Shurmur didn’t give a timetable for Moore’s return but said he has no reason to believe the 6-foot-6, 250-pounder won’t be ready for the Sept. 11 season opener against the Bengals at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The Browns have had a rash of injuries, and wide receiver Josh Cribbs spent the end of Sunday’s full-pad practice on the sideline after “tweaking” his hamstring.
Starting left guard Eric Steinbach, safety T.J. Ward and linebacker Chris Gocong remain sidelined.
Steinbach’s back tightened up last week, Ward strained his hamstring, and Gocong missed more than three weeks with a stinger.
Linebacker Scott Fujita is back practicing after missing time with a strained thigh.
Shurmur expects running back Montario Hardesty to make his preseason debut on Thursday when the Browns play in Philadelphia.
Hardesty is coming back after knee surgery last year.
Also, wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi might finally practice this week after being out since the start of camp because of a chip fracture in his left leg.
