Police say an Ohio man practiced using a handgun at a firing range days before he fatally shot seven people and was killed by police.
Authorities say 51-year-old Michael Hance of Akron died in a gunfight with police Aug. 7 in a quiet Copley Township neighborhood outside Akron.
Investigators determined Hance went to a firing range days before the shootings and practiced using a .45-caliber handgun he bought at a pawn shop, WEWS-TV reported.
“[Hance] really didn’t know how to use the weapon,” Lt. Luke Marchmon said. “He went to a firing range to practice, but really didn’t know how to use it.”
