Man faces charges in incident at store

CAMPBELL
Police arrested a man after he lost his temper and knocked over shelves at the Campbell Pharmacy on 12th Street.
An employee called police at 6:10 p.m. Thursday after Jayquawn Manigault, 18, was confronted by the store owner, who alleged Manigault had stolen cough drops.
The store owner confronted Manigault as Manigault sat outside the store in his mother’s car, the police report says.
Manigault refused to pay for the cough drops, so the store owner went back inside to talk to Manigault’s mother, the report says.
Manigault came in, swearing and threatening employees, the report says.
He knocked merchandise off two stands and continued making threats, police said. He pushed over two candy stands, then fled while an employee called 911.
Police went to his home on 13th Street, and he fled to the attic when they tried to arrest him. They brought him down from the attic and took him to the Campbell jail.
He remained in jail Friday on an $800 bond, or 10 percent of an $8,000 bond.
He is set to appear for arraignment Tuesday morning in Campbell Municipal Court.
