Hitchcock Woods adds exercise regimen
Neighbors | Submitted.Fiona Sabo, Scarlet Sabo, Carly Karzmer and Perry Santangelo try out the new Mini Movement Program.
According to Pattie Welsh, owner and director, Hitchcock Woods and Lincoln Learning Center is adding the “Mini Movement Program,” produced by Carly Karzmer, to its curriculum.
Karzmer has produced the “Mini Movement Program, “a derivative of the famous Anne Green Gilbert’s “Brian Dance.”
Karzmer, a YSU graduate, a Youngstown native and former student of Hitchcock Woods PreSchool, has studied more than 100 classes in New York under the direction of Dionne S. Kamara. “I have been amazed by the benefits the “Mini Movement” class has on children,” said Karzmer.
Welsh has attended Karzmer’s Mini Movement classes and believes in its benefits.
“I knew it was a great fit for the children attending Hitchcock Woods. I feel good about the benefits of the Mini Movement Class, such as the how the movement stimulates brain integration, cross lateral movement and core strengthening. In some cases, this strengthening has been lost in our childrens’ development. The excessive use of children’s constraints such as walkers, excersaucers and other equipment has limited the development of our childrens’ core strength. This class has brought us full circle to explore and develop these important aspects of our children’s development,” said Welsh.
Karzmer will be incorporating the Mini Movements class while teaching the toddler class at Hitchcock Woods Learning Center.
Hithchcock Woods classes are open for enrollment. For more information, call Hitchcock Woods School at 330-758-2108 or visit www.hitchcockwoodsctr.com.
