Man shot, wounded on Woodcrest Avenue

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are searching for suspects in a shooting that sent a 20-year-old city man to the hospital Friday morning. Police said the shooting occurred about 2 a.m. on the 1400 block of Woodcrest Avenue. The man told officers he was walking on street when he heard one gunshot and felt pain on the right side of his back, according to reports.

Police said the man walked to a house on Bennington Avenue where he collapsed on the front porch. Residents on the porch said the wounded man came through the side yard, said he was shot and the residents called for police and ambulance.

A man on the porch told police he heard a shot that sounded muffled or in the distance but didn’t notice anything until the bleeding man arrived on his porch, reports state. The wounded man was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital. A patient information officer said Friday morning that she did not have any public information available about the man.
