Events set for Bazetta Community Day

BAZETTA

Bazetta Township Community Day on Sunday will include the unveiling of a time capsule buried during the township’s community picnic in 1976.

Those attending are asked to take an item and sign the scroll that will be buried with a new time capsule.

Many activities are planned for what is to become an annual event, including a corn hole tournament, Frisbee contest, horseshoes, volleyball, face-painting, and free hot dogs, hamburgers and pop. Sign-up sheets for corn hole and Frisbee will be available that day.

A piece of the World Trade Center that was recently acquired by Bazetta Fire Department, equipment and games from the Army National Guard, Marines, Air Force, Navy and Air Reserve 910th Airlift Wing in Vienna, and equipment from Bazetta and Cortland fire police and road departments will be on display.

The day also will include a Work Truck Show. First-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded in two categories, Show & Shine and Rough & Tough. All participants will receive a dash plaque.

Registration will begin at noon, with no trucks entering after 1:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per truck.

Entrance forms are available at the township administration building, at www.bazettatwp.org, or the day of the event.

Shuttle vans will run between various parking lots throughout the day.

Golf carts will be available throughout the day to transport elderly and/or disabled attendees.
