POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 10

Drugs: Slightly more than 4 grams of suspected marijuana and an item commonly associated with marijuana use were found in the 6800 block of List Lane. No charges had been filed at the time of the report, however.

Arrests: Police charged 18-year-old John J. Cirelly III of Euclid, and 31-year-old Justin J. Nichols of North Adams, Mich., with theft, possession of criminal tools and tampering with a fire hydrant, all misdemeanors, after accusing them of stealing 500 gallons of water valued at $60 from a hydrant on New Castle Road.

Aug. 11

Identity fraud: A Hunters Hill Drive man found out his credit-card number was used to make $1,419 worth of unauthorized charges.

Aug. 15

Theft: A Clingan Road man reported his wallet, a $350 global-positioning-system device and other items stolen.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 12

Burglary: To an apartment in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard via the front door. Stolen were a 32-inch TV, a box spring and mattress, kitchen appliances and clothing.

Assault: A Struthers woman at the Southern Park Mall reported another woman struck her face.

Criminal damaging: Eggs were tossed at a home in the 4000 block of Baymar Drive.

Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered a residence in the 4200 block of Chester Drive. Missing were two air-conditioning units and two pairs of door handles.

Fraud: A Mathews Road man told authorities that he sold a wristwatch online to a Texas woman and received a $9,620 cashier’s check that was determined to be counterfeit.

Theft: A woman stole a $30 wig from The Hair Depot, 4026 Market St., and left in a vehicle.

Burglary: Someone used a key to enter a residence in the 80 block of Terrace Drive and take three TVs, jewelry and numerous other items.

Theft: A woman in her 40s stole trash bags and clothing from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Burglary: Occurred in the 40 block of Aylesboro Avenue through a rear door. A laptop computer, $1,370, two Wii game systems and related accessories and a small picture frame were taken.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a shed in the 1800 block of Mathews Road and removed a 21-inch lawn mower.

Aug. 13

Criminal damaging: An intoxicated man threw and broke an ashtray at a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant after having been asked to leave.

Assault: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman reported a neighbor struck her 10-year-old son’s chest and pinned him against a wall during an argument.

Attempted burglary: Police charged three township boys, 13, 14 and 17, with attempted burglary while responding to a possible break-in at a Woodview Avenue residence. Witnesses said they saw the teens in the backyard trying to open two rear windows and a back door.

Theft: A garden hose was stolen from a home in the 800 block of Pearson Circle.

Criminal mischief: A glob of orange paint, likely from a paint ball gun, was found on a garage door in the 6300 block of Tara Drive.

Theft: Authorities arrested 39-year-old Christopher M. Krohn at his residence, 6605 Harvest Ridge Drive, Austintown, on a felony theft warrant. Krohn had rented three TVs and a refrigerator from Eagle Rentals Inc., 6132 Market St., but stopped making required payments, a report said.

Arrests: Officers responded to Plato’s Closet, 400 Boardman-Canfield Road, regarding a woman trying to sell possibly stolen clothing, then arrested Amy L. Deutschlander, 24, of 519 Edison St., Struthers, and Richard Laboy Jr., same address, on a warrant and a probation-violation charge, respectively. Neither faced charges related to the clothing, however.

Aug. 14

Theft: Jessica M. Dellick, 22, of 135 Afton Ave., Boardman, was charged in the theft of $460 worth of jewelry from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall and released on a summons.

Misuse of a credit card: A West Boulevard man discovered his credit card had been used to make $1,399 worth of unauthorized purchases.

Harassment: A Terrace Drive girl said another girl has been harassing her online.

Theft: Tabitha Kerr, 42, of 7500 Huntington Drive, Boardman, was charged with taking $78 worth of health and beauty products from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: Police charged 61-year-old Robert E. Jackson, 4030 Hillman Way, Boardman, with the crime after Jackson’s girlfriend alleged he had pushed her to the ground in an argument.

Theft: A $250 radio/compact-disc player was removed from a car in the 2000 block of Woodward Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Curtain rods and various fixtures were broken during an altercation at a Boardman- Canfield Road eatery.

Theft: Michael L. Marsh, 34, of 4499 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, was booked at the Mahoning County jail in the theft of an MP3 player from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Theft: Police at the Mahoning County Jail charged 30-year-old Robert R. Carfolo Jr., 1981 Ridgelawn Ave., Youngstown, with a felony theft count and a misdemeanor count of misuse of a credit card. A man at a McClurg Road business reported his wallet stolen from a locker and later learned his card had been used at least twice without permission, a report said.

Theft/forgery: A caretaker for an elderly Mayflower Drive woman told authorities she suspected a family member of the woman forged her signature on checks and stole money from her.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Market Street led to 22-year-old Keri L. Davis’ arrest. Davis, of 1490 Garfield Ave., Salem, was wanted by Columbiana County authorities on a charge of failing to appear in court regarding a child-neglect case.

Aug. 15

Attempted burglary: A man told police someone tried to break into his mother’s Centervale Avenue home.

Harassment: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant reported getting such a call.

Attempted fraud: A Rosehedge Drive woman reported receiving a voice-mail message from a woman claiming to be with a collection agency representing a township business who asked the accuser to dial in her Social Security and account numbers. The business warned that the agency is fraudulent, a report showed.

Theft: Two gold bracelets were stolen from Leroy Jewelers Inc. in the Southern Park Mall, costing the business $9,298.

Theft: A man stole a $15 DVD from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Harassment: An employee of a U.S. Route 224 salon said two people made three unwanted calls.

Aggravated menacing: A clerk at an East Midlothian Boulevard gas station reported a man made a threat implying she would be killed after the worker thought he had stolen beer.

Harassment: A Forest Garden Drive woman reported a series of such calls.

Possible theft: A woman reported her wallet lost or stolen in the township.

Breaking and entering: Someone kicked in a side door to a vacant Melrose Avenue home, then removed copper plumbing from the basement.

Aug. 16

Assault: A Westview Drive man alleged his girlfriend scratched and slapped him.
