Mass. man gets 55 months in prison for Ohio Brinks burglary

COLUMBUS (AP) — A Massachusetts man has received more than 4 1/2 years in prison in a burglary at an Ohio Brinks armored car company office.

Federal prosecutors in Columbus say in a news release that 29-year-old Joseph M. Morgan of Lynn, Mass., was sentenced to 55 months Wednesday. A federal judge also ordered him to pay nearly $1.3 million in restitution.

Authorities say Morgan and two other men came to Columbus in January 2009 and broke into the Brinks facility through the roof. Investigators said at the time that a significant amount of coins was taken.

Morgan pleaded guilty in April to a conspiracy charge and one count of transporting merchandise and money in interstate commerce.

One co-defendant will be sentenced Nov. 9. The other is facing trial.
