Rising stock prices push oil near $88 a barrel


NEW YORK (AP) — Oil rose today as traders focused on an unexpectedly large drop in gasoline supplies.

Here's a breakdown of how energy prices traded Wednesday:

On the New York Mercantile Exchange:

Crude added 93 cents to settle at $87.58 per barrel.

Gasoline rose 1.65 cents to settle at $2.8703 per gallon.

Heating oil increased 2.9 cents to settle at $2.9616 per gallon.

Natural gas added less than a penny to settle at $3.933 per 1,000 cubic feet.

On the ICE Futures exchange:

Brent crude rose $1.47 to settle at $110.60 per barrel.
