POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

Aug. 12

Assault: Three people in the 500 block of Stull Avenue reported having been assaulted or threatened. One person said he was punched and knocked to the ground.

Theft: The manager of a North State Street business reported the theft of two boxes of shoes.

Theft/forgery: A North Davis Street woman discovered her account was overdrawn and that someone had cashed one of her checks for $50 without authorization.

Menacing: An East Kline Street woman said her former boyfriend made and sent unwanted calls and text messages pertaining to some of his property.

Aug. 13

Assault: A Shannon Road woman reported another woman punched her face and choked the accuser with her own shirt.

Aug. 14

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 500 block of Church Hill Road reported her van was damaged.

Menacing: A Crumlin Avenue man reported several days’ worth of harassing and threatening calls.

Aug. 15

Assault/criminal mischief: A woman in the 400 block of South Davis Street told police a man punched her left eye and smashed her vehicle’s windshield.

LIBERTY

Aug. 11

Drugs: Officers stopped 35-year-old Vernon P. Bauduin in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue, where he faced two drug-related charges. Bauduin, of 6033 N. Park Ave., Bristolville, had four hypodermic needles and a suspected crack pipe, and was wanted on a warrant, police said.

Theft: A woman reported $350 to $450 missing from her residence in the 2900 block of Roosevelt Drive.

Possible theft: A woman reported her purse lost or stolen at a Goldie Road store.

Theft: Money and a compact-disc player were taken from a vehicle at a Belmont Avenue eatery.

Counterfeit: A man used two phony $5 bills to pay for merchandise at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. The man said a woman had given him the notes, and no charges were filed.

Aug. 12

Arrest: Authorities booked 30-year-old Troy L. Robinson, 146 S. Lakeview Ave., Youngstown, at the Mahoning County jail. Robinson was wanted on a township warrant.

Arrest: Christian D. Little, 24, of 922 Plazaview Drive, Youngstown, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Hadley Avenue resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Kristen L. Perkins, 3198 Hadley, Liberty, who was wanted on charges of theft and possession of dangerous drugs.

Theft: A tub faucet and another item were removed from a maintenance building in the 6600 block of Belmont Avenue.

Counterfeit: A man unwittingly passed a fake $100 bill at Giant Eagle, but was not charged with any wrongdoing.

Theft: A man stole three pairs of eyeglass frames from a display case, costing a Belmont Avenue eye clinic $900.

Aug. 13

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 4200 block of Belmont Avenue led to 35-year-old Joseph W. Rock’s arrest. Rock, of 1020 Trumbull Ave., Warren, was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant from that city.

Arrest: Authorities arrested 60-year-old Gerald Haag at his home, 6609 Belmont Ave., Girard, on a warrant charging him with one count of assault.

Arrest: While responding to an unwanted person in the 200 block of Colonial Drive, police charged Willie J. Woodall Jr., 54, of 430 Kendis Circle, Youngstown, with assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Police had to use a stun gun on Woodall, who had led them on a chase while on a bicycle and later challenged officers to a fight, a report said.

Aug. 14

Burglary: Gerald M. Wainwright, 18, of 211 Colonial Drive, Liberty, faced a burglary charge after a man reported Wainwright had been in the accuser’s girlfriend’s Colonial Drive apartment without permission.

HUBBARD

Aug. 11

Criminal damaging: Someone sprayed foam on a vehicle in the 300 block of West Liberty Street.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Saul Drive woman said her son’s girlfriend took his car and refused to return it.

Aug. 12

Theft: Officers received a report of a theft that occurred on Rebecca Avenue, though the report contained no other details.

Fraud: A West Liberty Street man noticed money missing from his account.

Attempted fraud: An Elmwood Drive woman told authorities a caller discussed a new Social Security card and tried to get the woman to reveal her bank, then hung up when she failed to provide that information.

Aug. 13

Attempted burglary: A resident of an apartment in the 500 block of West Liberty Street told police a neighbor tried to break in.

Aug. 14

Recovered property: A debit card was found in a West Liberty Street bank’s automated-teller machine.
