Pa. teen charged in crash that killed 2 friends

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities have filed charges against a suburban Philadelphia man in the high-speed crash that killed two of his teenage friends earlier this month.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says 19-year-old Connor McNicholas was drunk and travelling about 100 mph when he lost control of the car Aug. 6 in Horsham. Authorities say the car sheared off a tree and traveled 400 feet off the road.

Robert Nagel and Edward Coombs, both 19, died in the crash. McNicholas and two others received minor injuries.

Investigators say McNicholas had a blood-alcohol content of .117 after the crash and police recovered two open liquor bottles from the scene. The legal limit for drivers in Pennsylvania is .08.

McNicholas was scheduled to be arraigned later today on charges including vehicular homicide.
