Casey Anthony lawyers appeal probation order

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Casey Anthony's attorneys have appealed in a bid to stop her from having to return to Florida to serve a yearlong probation sentence in a case unrelated to her recent murder trial.

Anthony was acquitted last month of murder in the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee and released soon after. The appeal filed today in Florida's Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach claims the probation order upheld last week by a judge would constitute an "illegal sentence" if carried out

A judge recently ordered Anthony to return to Orlando by the end of next week in order to report to a probation officer in a case in which she pleaded guilty to stealing checks from a friend. She has been at an undisclosed location.
