Give credit where credit is due

I am writing in regard to an an Aug. 11 Vindicator article about the ratings and our local R&B station, WRPB 101.9 Jamz. When I read this article, I was very upset. I am already bitter with the station for releasing Lucky Penny and now after reading this article, I am totally disgusted.

Let me explain why I have stopped listening and why I am so upset. Lucky Penny had such positivity in this city and made sure to bring it out on his radio show. He always helped the youth and strived for all the youth to be successful. Even though I was so tired of hearing the same songs played over and over again (which is not the fault of the DJs) I would still tune in from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. just to listen to Lucky’s show.

You would be out and if Lucky Penny was there everyone would be, “Hey, Lucky, keep up the good work!” He truly cared about his city and still does. The reasons I heard why the general manager let Lucky Penny go are outrageous and unacceptable to me. Now I read about how the new DJ, Jammin Janay, has helped their ratings since Lucky Penny has been gone: that is such bull. The ratings did not happen overnight; these ratings are from the two DJs, Lucky Penny and T-Luv.

Speaking of T-Luv, Mr. General Manager, not anywhere in this article is there a mention of T-Luv. T-Luv is a veteran to your station and you are going to give all the props for your ratings to a newbie?

I used to listen to T-Luv’s show to support her and turned the station once Jammin Janay came on, but now I just cannot listen and support such a phony radio station. I do not know this new DJ and nothing against her, but her voice does not fit radio; it is too whiny to me.

I know T-Luv needs her job, but seriously, I would be looking to take my talents elsewhere. If she does leave this horrible radio station and stays local, please let me know so I can listen to her on that station.
