COLUMBIANA

Lauren Ketterman of Leetonia High School and Trisha Sattler of Beaver High School are this year’s recipients of Columbiana Area Business and Professional Women’s Club’s $1,500 scholarships.

The awards were presented at the club’s monthly meeting July 26.

Trisha plans to attend the University of Akron to pursue a degree in international law. Lauren will major in physical therapy.

CABPW supports local youth and advocates women in the work force. Locally, the club awards scholarships, sponsors Christina House and Beatitude House, and has begun to sponsor Buckeye Girls State. Marley Guzman of Heartland Christian School was the club’s inaugural candidate to Girls State.

CABPW’s main fundraiser to support these causes is a style show, planned this year for Oct. 8 at Salem Golf Club. Cost is $25 per person; reservations can be made by emailing columbianabpw@yahoo.com or by calling Lori Everly at 330-853-5896. This year’s show will showcase some of the area scholarship winners along with area Girls State representatives as models.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Columbiana Chapter’s participation in the national organization. It meets the fourth Tuesday of most months at various locations. Membership is open. Annual dues are $46.

Anyone interested should contact Everly at the number above or by emailing everly1101@aol.com or calling Judi Allio, membership chairwoman, at 330-332-4186.
