A man has been arrested in the rape of a 32-year-old Youngstown woman.
Dashawn L. Hayden, 35, of Boardman was arraigned Friday in Campbell Municipal Court in the rape, reported to have occurred July 29 at the Tandy Apartments on Monette Street.
He remained in the Mahoning County jail in lieu of $10,000, or 10 percent of $100,000 in bond, municipal-court personnel said.
The woman reported she gave Hayden a ride to the apartments that morning. He has a relative who lives there.
While there, the woman told police, five or six men came by and asked her to take heroin. She said no, but she was forcibly injected with heroin, passed out and came to while Hayden was raping her, she told police. She managed to escape after several hours. Hayden will appear again Friday in municipal court for a preliminary hearing.

A 22-year-old woman remained in critical condition Monday after she was hit by a car Sunday night. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred on South Avenue across from Sam’s Club about 10:15 p.m. Troopers said 75-year-old Robert Malenic, of Boardman, was driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre when he hit the woman, who was taken St. Elizabeth Health Center. The patrol has not released the woman’s name. No charges have been filed yet, but the investigation continues.
Probe continues

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that landed a 20-year-old Campbell man in the hospital with a gunshot wound in his left leg. Police arrived at the Coconut Grove, 3229 South Ave., about 11:15 p.m. Saturday after reports of gunfire. Records state that officers were met by a hostile crowd, and individuals in the crowd said about 10 rounds from two types of guns were fired from the corner of Lucius and Detroit avenues. The injured man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center where he was listed in stable condition.
