CARD, BINGO PARTIES

St. Joseph the Provider Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will host a bingo and card party starting at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 in the church hall, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church) members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, will host a bingo day with prizes for every game from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 27. Admission is $5 and includes bingo and a variety of salads for lunch. Tickets also will be sold for a 50/50 raffle, as well as other items. CAR SHOWS

Highway Tabernacle Church of Austintown will have its annual car, truck and bike fest from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 27. Admission is free. Registration is on-site, by donation. Proceeds benefit the Royal Ranger program.

CRAFT SHOWS

Queen of the Holy Rosary Church will have a craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna. Crafters and vendors are needed; cost is $20 per 8-foot table. Call 330-856-2597 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for more information.

SALES

Cystic Fibrosis will have a Trash and Treasure Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Hubbard City Building parking lot, West Liberty Street near Stewart Avenue, to benefit CF research. The event will include knick-knacks, dishes, toys, science-fiction collectibles, jewelry, accessories, small appliances, VCRs, CDs, DVDs, books, electronics, small furniture and other household items. There will be a 50/50 drawing; winner need not be present.

Immaculate Heart of Mary will have a Treasures in Your Trunk Sale, sponsored by its Social Concerns Group, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10. The sale will take place in the church parking lot, 4500 Norquest Blvd., Austintown. Vendor spaces are available for $10 for early registration; must be received by Sept. 8. Vendors may register for $15 the day of the sale. No refunds will be given for any reason. Take your own table (up to 8 feet) for setting up in front of your trunk. There will be a sale of homemade baked goods, food and beverages. A used book and media sale will take place in the parish center at the same time. SPECIAL EVENTS

Youngstown American-Hungarian Club will have its 26th annual Hungarian Heritage Day from 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at the clubhouse, 2219 Donald Ave., Youngstown. Authentic Hungarian folk art, music and food, including Hungarian goulash, stuffed cabbage, stuffed peppers, chicken dinners, haluski, kielbasa and sauerkraut, and various pastries, including crepes and dobos torta, will be available. A boutique will be stocked with Hungarian preserves, spices, noodles, clothing, books, cards and more. The Hungarians of Cleveland will be playing both American and Hungarian favorites. Admission is $3.

TRIPS

E.B. Family Life Center is sponsoring a bus trip to Detroit on Saturday to attend the 29th annual African Festival in the Phillip Hart Plaza. The bus will leave at 7:30 a.m. from the center, 7 S. Garland Ave., Youngstown. During the trip, travelers will experience cultural food, crafts and people who are a part of Africa and the African Diaspora, which will be celebrated. Trumbull County Travel Club is planning a one-day outing Aug. 26 to the Gateway Clipper and The Rivers Casino. The luncheon cruise theme will be “A Tribute to Patsy Cline,” with docking at the casino in the early afternoon. Departure is at 8:45 a.m., and return to the Warren area will be around 9 p.m. The cost is $74, with $15 free slot money and $5 food voucher given to all those who attend. All seats need to be reserved and paid by Friday. A Vermont country roads Autumn in New England tour will be from Oct. 10 through 14. The cost is $899 per person with a $100 deposit due now. Youngstown Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Mu Omega and Delta Delta are sponsoring a bus trip to Washington, D.C., Aug. 27-28 to the dedication ceremony of Martin Luther King Jr.’s National Memorial. The bus will depart at 7 a.m. Aug. 27 from McDonald’s on Belmont Avenue and will depart Washington for Youngstown at 4 p.m. Aug. 28. Prices are $150 per person/double occupancy, $75 for those 12 and under, $195 for single occupancy. Those 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
