Pa. youth dies during soccer practice

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) — School officials say a 15-year-old soccer player died on today at Brush Creek County Park.

Officials from Beaver County Christian School say emergency responders were called after 15-year-old Sam Dickson, a sophomore, collapsed during a break in a drill, station WPXI reports.

Emergency responders were called to the park after witnesses thought the boy was having a seizure. When medics arrived they had to call for backup because he was in full cardiac arrest. School official Rose McChesney told the station that Dickson was transported to Ellwood City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Naturally we are in shock and grief over this event,” McChesney said in a statement.
