Fire causes $25,000 in damage to home in Howland, kills cat

A two-story apartment complex went up in flames Sunday afternoon, causing $25,000 worth of damage and destroying two apartments.

The fire, at 2412 Elm Rd., reportedly began at 3:23 p.m. On arrival, firefighters found two apartments fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 3:40 p.m.

The Warren, Bazetta and Youngstown Air Reserve Station fire departments assisted Howland in controlling the blaze.

No injuries were reported, but the fire killed one cat. The cause, according to officials, is accidental.
