Sharon woman elected as secretary to Athena board


SHARON, PA.

Kathryn Lima of Sharon, Pa., has been elected secretary of Athena International’s board of directors for the 2011-12 term. She also was re-elected to a second two-year term on the board.

Lima is president/owner of Faro Enterprises, a marketing, public relations and fund-raising consulting business here. She was elected to the Athena International board in 2008.

Other Athena International officers for 2011-12 are Heather Paquette, a partner with KPMG LLP in Chicago, chairwoman; Debra Adams Simmons, editor of the Plain Dealer in Cleveland, chairwoman-elect; Deirdre Joy Smith, founder and president of POWER: Opening Doors for Women in Chicago, first vice chairwoman; and Carla Carstens, president of Carstens Associates in Chicago, treasurer.

Other new members of the board of directors are Ann-Marie Athavale, vice president, Empire Communications, Windsor, Ontario, Canada; KL Robertson Daly, business and marketing consultant for KL Daly in Chicago; Dwain Deville, entrepreneur, professional speaker and author, of Orlando, Fla; Lee Anne Doyle, executive director, City of Windsor Building Department, Windsor; Tori Farmer, director of diversity and corporate responsibility, KPMG in Chicago; Paula Giovacchini, president, GIO Group Inc in Chicago; Bridget Glavaz, director of global communications, Office Max Inc., Chicago; Patricia Hallberg, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts in Wilbraham, Mass; Michelle Michaels, national director of diversity for Foley & Lardner LLP in Chicago; Colleen Moore Mezler, president and CEO, Moore Research Services Inc. in Erie, Pa.; and Mona Stone, a partner, Greenberg Traurig LLP in Phoenix, Ariz.

Re-elected to two-year terms were Anupama Arya, co-founder and managing director of Mobera Systems Pvt. Ltd., Chandigarh, India; Christine Brown, president and owner of Marketing Resources & Results Inc. of Hudson; Marlene Kowalski-Braun, director of Women’s Center, Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.; Catherine M. Lee, president and founder, CDL & Associates Inc., Barrington, Ill.; Carla R. Michelotti, executive vice president/general counsel director of government affairs, Leo Burnett Worldwide in Chicago; and Deirdre Joy Smith.

Norma Rist, president of Norma J. Rist CEO Consulting Inc. of Akron, and Ellen Ruddick, retired entrepreneur of Indiana, Pa., were elected director emeritus. Both are past chairwomen of Athena International.

Other board members are Mary Schnack, owner of Mary Schnack Media Services Inc. of Sedona, Ariz., and Washington, D.C.; Ilene Shapiro, executive director of business development, Summa Foundation of Akron; and Linda Stevenson, SVP/Women’s Business Development program, PNC Banking in Erie.

Athena International was founded 29 years ago and is noted for its award programs that have honored more than 6,100 women leaders in more than eight countries. Athena is based in Chicago and is known for building women leaders and recognizing leadership initiatives among women.
