Summer fun was on the menu for the residents of Boardman Shepherd of the Valley and their families on June 29. The horn-heavy rock of local entertainers Guys without Ties entertained the crowd on the lawn of the facility during an evening concert.
Facility administrator Richard Limongi and new activity director Jorita George were at the event to mingle with the crowd and also serve free ice cream floats and sundaes.
“We love our air conditioning, but it is nice to get outside and enjoy the summer weather while it holds out,” Limongi shared in between ice cream scoops.
“Many of our residents invite their families and we welcome cousins, sisters, sons and daughters, grandkids and great grandkids. It’s a great event for any age,” George added.
Guests at the concert settled on the lawn of the facility with lawn chairs and snacks and drinks from home. When they were hungry for something sweet, facility employees offered heaping cones of ice cream and gladly topped sundaes with whipped cream.
Guys without Ties kept the crowd entertained with rock and soul classics and Motown favorites.
“We’re glad we came along. The music is great and the weather is perfect to enjoy it all,” said guest Mildred McKeown.
