Grove City’s Kappa Delta Pi wins ACE

Staff report

Grove city, pa.

The Grove City College chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), an international education honorary, has won an Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Award due to its demonstrated excellence and dedication to the ideals of the international organization.

The award, established in 1995, is presented once every two years.

The honorary has won the ACE Award five consecutive times, including 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and now 2011.

There are only five other chapters, out of more than 600 active chapters, that have won the award five consecutive times since the award’s inaugural year.

The chapter will be recognized during the first general session of the organization’s convocation ceremony in November in Indianapolis, Ind. A KDP representative will present the award to two College education honorary representatives.

After the ceremony, students of the college will have the opportunity to share their award-winning ideas, including the chapter’s professional development programming and service projects, during the Passport to Chapter Success Poster Session viewing and presentations.

Notable programs and service projects implemented by the College chapter include the fall and spring “Awarding Awesome Authors Contest,” recognizing the exceptional writing capabilities of kindergartners through eighth-graders; and the “Literacy Alive!” project grant, providing a monetary award as part of the KDP’s signature national service initiative.

The Grove City chapter of KDP, through receiving the ACE Award, will automatically be considered for the Ace of the ACE Award, which will be presented in November. The award recognizes one chapter that grew and increased activity each year, and is a positive force in the community; provided unique programming and grew each year; raised more than $7,500 for local charities; and contains students and officers that are a driving force behind the chapter’s success.

KDP, founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois, seeks to sustain an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership and service

Pioneering from its origin by including women as well as men, KDP grew from a local chapter to an international organization, which includes 582 chapters and more than 45,000 members.
