POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Aug. 5

Recovered property: A license plate was found in the road in the 1000 block of Drummond Avenue.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a tool shed in the 1700 block of Myron Street.

Assault: Police got a report that a juvenile had been assaulted in the 2100 block of North Main Street.

Aug. 6

Criminal mischief: A mailbox sustained damage in the 600 block of Dorchester Drive.

Recovered property: A police officer found a man’s debit card at a festival off North Main Street.

Aug. 7

Child endangerment: Police received a 911 complaint about a toddler left unattended in a vehicle in the 800 block of West Liberty Street. The car’s owner was given a warning.

Menacing: A Parkview Drive man reported his wife received a threatening call.

Aug. 8

Theft: A Moore Street woman reported her wallet missing at a West Liberty Street business.

LIBERTY

Aug. 4

Theft by deception: An employee of a Belmont Avenue business reported having received skin-care products that he never ordered, along with a bill to his business account. The man also discovered numerous other unauthorized charges to the account totaling $2,139.

Arrest: Coitsville police handed 37-year-old Harold W. Charron, 6965 McCartney Road, Lowellville, to township authorities. Charron was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Theft/assault: Authorities charged 44-year-old Janet L. Clay, 640 Fairgreen Ave., Youngstown, with theft and assault on a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, after two food items had been stolen from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave. Clay, who also was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant from Niles, kicked an officer in his left leg, a report showed.

Arrest: Police went to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, to arrest 47-year-old Tina D. Hymes, 339 Breaden St., Youngstown, on a township warrant.

Arrest: Van D. Darling Jr., 43, of 919 Bonnie Brae Drive, Youngstown, was picked up at the Girard Police Department. He was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Theft: Two 14-year-old Youngstown boys were detained after being accused of trying to steal two packages of compact discs from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Both were released to the custody of guardians.

Aug. 5

Arrest: A traffic stop on Fifth Avenue resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Ryan Pryor, 533 Carol St., Youngstown, who was wanted by township police on a misdemeanor warrant.

Theft: A man noticed his wallet and a $130 cellphone missing from his vehicle in the 4300 block of Belmont Avenue.

Aug. 6

Assault: A worker for a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant reported her former boyfriend, of Campbell, pushed her during an argument about money, then fled on foot.

Felonious assault: A Hubbard woman in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue told police a man in his mid-20s struck the back of her leg with a baseball bat, apparently because a family member of the accuser owes him money.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 5300 block of Sampson Avenue was found with damage to its windshield-wiper blades.

Arrest: Police pulled over a car near Logan Gate Road, where they took 28-year-old Lamont R. Harmon into custody. Harmon, of 1482 Stewart Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a felony count of receiving stolen property.

Assault: An employee of a Belmont Avenue salon reported a 42-year-old Youngstown woman caused a disturbance and, when asked to leave, struck the left side of the accuser’s head.

Aug. 7

Assault: A Newton Falls woman accused her former husband of assaulting her 9-year-old daughter, of Liberty.

GIRARD

Aug. 6

Criminal mischief: A man in the 1000 block of Woodlawn Avenue punched a vehicle’s passenger side, leaving a dent.

Theft: An East Second Street woman reported a $4,000 wedding ring stolen from her residence.

Assault: A man in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue told officers two men struck his face during a confrontation.

Possible drugs: A man found what he thought were two suspected marijuana plants growing in pots on a piece of rental property in the 70 block of Morris Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 200 block of East Kline Street used a key to damage a truck’s tailgate, then deliberately let the air out of two tires.

Criminal mischief: A woman at a U.S. Route 422 gas station said a man attempted to push her vehicle, something the man denied.

Assault: A woman driving near Shannon Road reported a man with whom she was in an argument grabbed her arm, placed her in a head lock and slapped her face.

Aug. 7

Breaking and entering: Someone kicked in a rear door and entered a vacant home in the 200 block of East Main Street. Stolen were a push mower and copper piping.

Theft: A Church Hill Road man noticed $40 missing from his van.

Recovered property: A girls mountain bike was found in a yard in the 100 block of West Howard Street and turned over to police.

Assault: A man at a West Wilson Avenue business reported another man punched his face, dragged the accuser and struck him again. He suffered gashes on both knees and was bleeding from the mouth.

Theft: An $85 DVD player was taken from a van in the 400 block of North Avenue.

Aggravated menacing: A Church Hill Road woman and her son alleged her husband had threatened to kill them both.

Assault: Police responded to a fight among several people in the 400 block of Church Hill Road. One person reported having been struck with the lid to a charcoal grill; another person had teeth knocked out.

Theft: A Church Hill Road man reported the theft of an MP3 player and a $250 DVD player.

Aug. 8

Breaking and entering: Someone broke a front window with a rock and entered a building in the 1100 block of South State Street.

Theft: A $300 Wii game system was removed from a home in the 100 block of East Kline Street.

Theft: A man reported clothing, jewelry, credit cards and other items stolen from his North Highland Avenue residence, for an estimated $4,300 loss.
