Pa. woman recovering from tiger-attack injuries

HALIFAX, Pa. (AP) — A wildlife park employee injured by a Bengal tiger is being released from a hospital after surgery, a park official said today.

Pam Jury, co-owner of Lake Tobias Wildlife Park, said the unnamed park tour guide was “doing well” after being treated for injuries sustained Thursday afternoon at the central Pennsylvania business.

Jury says Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center staff told her the woman required reconstructive surgery but did not have any broken bones.

The incident was the first time in 47 years that an animal at Lake Tobias has seriously injured anyone, Jury said. She said it remains unclear whether the tiger bit or scratched her, but she didn’t believe the tiger did anything wrong.

The worker was in an area that is off-limits to the public and most park employees, Jury said.
