3 Dayton cops hurt in fight with suspect

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A police spokeswoman says “an extremely violent fight” with a man described as a mixed martial arts fighter left three Ohio officers injured.

Lt. Wendy Stiver of the Dayton Police Department says the suspect took one officer’s stun gun and tried to take his weapon.

WHIO-TV reported early today that the overnight altercation began when the same officer saw the man urinating in bushes outside a bar and approached him. Police say the suspect began assaulting the officer, who called for back up.

Two other officers were hurt and were treated at a hospital and then released. The condition of the original officer was not immediately known.

Stiver said the suspect was facing charges including aggravated robbery, for taking the stun gun.
