Farmdale man injured in Gustavus Township auto accident

GUSTAVUS — A 78-year-old Farmdale man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center on Wednesday night with critical injuries he received in a car accident on state Route 87 east of state Route 193.

Kenneth J. Oehmichen was driving a 1983 Suburban westbound on Route 87 when he struck the back of an unoccupied tractor-trailer that was stopped in the roadway westbound on Route 87 at 7:01 p.m.

Oehmichen was taken by helicopter to the hospital, where he went into surgery this morning. There was no additional report on his condition.
