Poland girls in region championship

The Poland 13-14 Junior League softball all-stars defeated Indiana, 2-0, on Tuesday to advance to the championship of the Central Region tournament.
Poland plays Michigan or Illinois today at 2 p.m. at Firestone Stadium, and a win advances the team to the World Series starting Sunday in Kirkland, Wash.
In Tuesday’s win, Aleah Hughes pitched four innings and Ally Deemer pitched three innings for the shutout, and both players had a single, two of Poland’s eight hits.
Jenna Shetler hit a double and single, scoring one of Poland’s runs. Abby Masluk, Clare Testa, Maddie Rowe and Arliah Duarte had Poland’s other hits.
Kat Wilson and Chloe Bush were singled out for their defense.

JOHNSTOWN, PA.
Ohio Glaciers defeated Brooklyn Bonnies 15-8 in the opening game of the 19-20-year-old national tournament.
Joe Sekula had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Glaciers, members of the Youngstown Class AA League.
Shane Wagner, Jared Turocy, Corey Hill and Trent Vallinger all had two hits apiece. Hill and Turocy hit homers, while Hill also doubled, as did Wagner, and Hill and Vallinger drove in three runs each. Turocy had two RBIs.
Ron Sullivan pitched 61/3 innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits to get the win.
