Ohio ranks in top 15 nationwide for low insurance rates
COLUMBUS — Ohio has the 11th lowest auto insurance and ninth lowest homeowners insurance premiums in the nation, according to new figures released by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Auto insurance rates among the state’s top 10 private passenger insurance groups rose 1.5 percent in 2010, a slight decrease from the 2.8-percent jump in 2009.
Homeowners insurance among the state’s top 10 insurance groups rose 8.7 percent in 2010 after climbing 9.7 percent in 2009.
The top 10 insurance groups in each category represent approximately 70 percent of the market.
The report said department analysts expect 2011 rates to follow a similar pattern.
