New Castle man shot
New Castle, Pa.
The New Castle Police Department continues to look for leads for the person or people responsible for shooting a city man Sunday night.
Police responded to a call for shots fired at a Pine Oak Drive home and found Kenneth Hardret, 22, with gunshot wounds to his left wrist and left thigh.
Hardret was taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. There was no condition report available.
Evidence was recovered from the scene but no arrests have been made, according to a press release. The police department’s detective bureau is handling the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police.

There will be a farmers market featuring fresh produce from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Health Center, 667 Eastland Ave. SE, in the parking lot behind the hospital. Staff and visitors are welcome.
‘Pilot for a Day’
VIENNA
Connor Covan of Boardman will be sworn in as an honorary Air Force Reserve second lieutenant and as a 910th Airlift Wing “Pilot for a Day” Wednesday at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.
The honoree is being treated for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and Brugada syndrome, a heart-rhythm disorder, at Akron Children’s Hospital of the Mahoning Valley in Boardman.
The Pilot for a Day program reaches out to the community by providing a day of activities to children who live with a chronic or life-threatening disease or illness.
Garden workshop
YOUNGSTOWN
There will be a community garden workshop on pests and healthy soil at 6 p.m. today at the Brentwood Avenue community garden on Brentwood between Glenwood Avenue and Colfax Street on the South Side.
Those attending will learn how to identify and control helpful and harmful bugs in a garden. Maurice Small, an urban agriculture expert, presents the workshop.

Three Argonne Avenue residents reported air-conditioner control-box thefts over the weekend to township police. Two victims stated the copper quick disconnects were removed from the exterior of their homes Saturday, while one victim reported it happened between Friday and Sunday.
