Burglary investigation
BOARDMAN
Police continue to investigate a weekend burglary in which a man took about $400 from a 79-year-old woman.
The woman told officers that about 7 p.m. Saturday she returned to her home on Parkland Avenue from Giant Eagle on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman, when she noticed a red car behind her.
Reports state the man claimed he had run out of gas and needed to make a phone call, and the woman said she would call for him. Police said the man grabbed woman’s groceries from the trunk and pushed open her door in the garage, coming inside without permission.
The man, who did not have a weapon, said he needed money, and the woman gave him the cash in her purse, according to reports.
