Barr leads offensive outburst as Scrappers roll

AUBURN, N.Y.

John Barr had three hits and scored twice to lead the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a 7-2 victory over Auburn in a New York-Penn League game on Monday.

Jake Lowery added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Mahoning Valley (30-21), which is tied with the Doubledays atop the Pinckney Division standings.

Bryson Myles had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run, Alex Lavisky had two hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in a run and Aaron Siliga had two hits, including a triple, and scored a run as the Scrappers compiled 13 hits.

Joseph Colon started and lasted just four innings, giving up both runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out four.

Nathan Striz (3-3) pitched one-hit ball over three innings to get the win, strikout out two without walking a batter.

Drew Rucinski and Grant Sides each pitched an inning of relief, with both giving up one hit and striking out two without a walk.

Taylor Hill (0-2) gave up three runs in five innings for Auburn (30-21). Travis Henke gave up the other four runs in 21/3 innings of relief.

Skole and Alvarez each had two hits in the loss.

The Scrappers will head to Tri-City for a three-game series starting tonight, then head home for three games against Brooklyn beginning Friday.
