CARD, BINGO PARTIES

WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church) members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, will host a bingo day with prizes for every game from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 27. Admission is $5 and includes bingo and a variety of salads for lunch. Tickets also will be sold for a 50/50 raffle, as well as other items. CAR SHOWS

Fowler Township Historical Society will have an Antique Car, Truck and Tractor Show and basket auction from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 28 at Fowler Center, corner of state Routes 193 and 305. The drawing for the auction will begin at 3 p.m. The event will include music and food, and the Butts Museum will be open. No entrance fee will be charged for cars. Donations will be accepted. FESTIVALS/FAIRS

Slovaks of the Mahoning Valley are having a heritage festival from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday on the grounds of St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell St., Youngstown. Admission is free. The event begins with a polka Mass at 11:30 a.m. There will be entertainment by the Eddie Vallus Band, Del Sinchak Orchestra and Living Traditions folk ensemble. Dinners will be served from noon to 3 p.m. inside. Ethnic foods will be served all day outside. Also featured will be a basket auction, a gas-card raffle and ethnic displays.

SALES

New Covenant Worship Center,1900 Canfield Road at Bears Den Road, Youngstown, will have a community yard and bake sale and concession stand from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Space can be rented for $15. Craft vendors are welcome. Register at 7 a.m. that day. You must provide your own table and chair. The center reserves the right to ask that inappropriate items be removed. Food and drinks may be sold only at the concession stand. For more information call 330-783-1977.

The Needle’s Eye Christian Counseling Center, 74 Kenmore Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor its first trash and treasure sale from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

TRIPS

AARP 4611 is planning a trip to Amish country in Sugar Creek, Ohio, on Sept. 24. The cost of $55 includes bus fare and a family-style dinner.
