P.I.&I. Express 14, Sunrise Inn 5

Dave Patrick and Scott McDermott hit RBI singles in the first inning as Express took a 3-0 lead and never looked back en route to the league title. Express won the championship series 3-1. Sunrise scored two runs in the third but P.I.&I. answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning. Andy Wess, Dave DeJulio, and Cory Hitt doubled for Express. Tom Jones batted .545 with a pair of doubles, five runs and three RBIs to earn series MVP. Hitt had four hits and three RBIs, while Jones and McDermott each added two hits.

Aleah Hughes pitched a two-hitter over seven innings as Poland evened its record at 1-1 in the regional tournament at Firestone Stadium. Poland’s 13-14 year-olds, who lost to Michigan 6-0 on Saturday, play Missouri at 5:30 p.m. today with a semifinal berth on the line.
