Italian Festival kicks off Thursday
WARREN
The city’s 27th annual Italian-American Heritage Festival starts Thursday and runs through Sunday.
The festival will take place on Courthouse Square in Warren’s downtown. The festival features food, entertainment, cultural heritage displays and boccie tournaments as well as competitions for homemade wine and pasta sauce.
It begins Thursday at 4:45 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. The festival is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The event concludes at 11 p.m. Sunday with a fireworks display.
Housing-code seminar planned
WARREN
The Warren Health Department will offer a housing-code seminar for the public at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday in the health department conference room, 418 Main St. SW.
The seminar will give residents an overview of the rules. Call 330-373-6010 to register.
Volunteers sought for West Side cleanup
YOUNGSTOWN
Jennifer Jones of Youngstown Litter Control, Councilman Mike Ray, D-4th, and the Westside Neighborhood group are recruiting volunteers to help clean up some of the busiest areas along Mahoning Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Volunteers are to meet at Mahoning Valley Lanes parking lot, 2617 Mahoning Avenue. A pizza party sponsored by Strikers will conclude the event.
