38-year-old man drowns off Ohio's Delaware County beach

DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) — A 38-year-old man has drowned off the Alum Creek State Park Beach in Delaware County.

Brad Copeland, a law enforcement manager at Alum Creek, tells The Columbus Dispatch that the man was swimming outside the buoys when he went under the water late Sunday afternoon. He says a human chain of volunteers holding hands helped pull the man from the water.

The swimmer was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. His name was not released pending notification of his family.
