Volant gets set for Corn Harvest Festival

Special to The Vindicator

VOLANT, Pa.

The Volant Merchants Association has set a Corn Harvest Festival for Saturday in this quiet village just east of New Wilmington on Pa. Route 208.

The festival, which celebrates the area’s farming heritage and summer’s bounty, will be kicked off at 10 a.m. when the Moraine Area Tractor Cruisers arrive. Visitors will be treated to a free hayride and a display of antique tractors. They also can visit the Summer Kitchen for an old-fashioned corn roast. Peaches and corn also will be available for purchase.

Scooter’s Ice Cream & Sandwich Shop will have an Ice Cream Social, and Miss Scarlett’s Gift Parlor will feature gourmet apples.

Many shops will offer sidewalk specials. Shops are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and parking and admission are free.
