Amy Winehouse’s goddaughter performs
EASTNOR CASTLE DEER PARK, England
Amy Winehouse’s 15-year-old goddaughter performed an outstanding set at the Big Chill music festival, mirroring her late mentor by closing her show with a cover of Winehouse’s “Love Is a Losing Game.”
Dionne Bromfield got teary-eyed when she performed the song, barely able to sing its last few words, though the crowd cheered her on.
“She was an amazing singer,” Bromfield said. “She was not only my godmother, but she was my mentor and my boss as well.”
Loving Lucy on her 100th birthday
LOS ANGELES
On the 100th anniversary of Lucille Ball’s birthday, her daughter is asking fans of the “I Love Lucy” star to be joyous.
“They shouldn’t mourn. She had one of the best lives ever,” Lucie Arnaz said. “She is one of the few people we can look at and say she left us something that can help.”
“I Love Lucy,” which starred the redheaded actress as a zany homemaker and then-husband Desi Arnaz as her bandleader-spouse, first aired from 1951 to 1955 and still is seen around the world on TV and on DVD.
Lucie Arnaz, 60, said she knows that Ball’s legacy of laughter has proved uplifting.
