Walsh University has announced the appointment of the Rev. Anselm Zupka as the new university chaplain. He will be responsible for the sacramental and liturgical life of the Walsh community and will partner with Campus Ministry for faith-based programs for Walsh students, faculty and staff.
Walsh University, in the Diocese of Youngstown, is an independent, co-educational Catholic liberal arts and sciences institution with more than 3,000 students from 15 states and 24 countries.
Father Anselm has been a weekend associate at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Parma. He will accompany the church’s youth group to Spain for a weeklong pilgrimage, concluding with World Youth Day on Aug. 21 in Madrid. This year marks Father Anselm’s fifth World Youth Day visit.
He also had served for decades as a guidance counelor at Benedictine High School in Cleveland.
Father Anselm, a Cleveland native, earned a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University/Borromeo College and a master’s degree at John Carroll University.

The Women of Worship Ministry of Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., will sponsor a “Women of God Rejoicing” luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 13 at St. Mark’s Social Center, 3560 Logan Way, Liberty.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Robin Woodberry, assistant pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Angela Brittain will be guest speaker when the Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an interdenominational ministry, meets Aug. 15 at the BBC Multipurpose room in Boardman Park.
Fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. with the ministry at 6:30.
Brittain is the author of “Don’t Forget to Look Up: A Christian’s Guide to Overcoming Anxiety and Panic Attacks” and the workbook, “Uncovering the Root of Anxiety, Panic and Fear.”

Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church, 421 Covington St., will host a picnic Aug. 14 in celebration of its 100th anniversary. The picnic will be at Strossmayer Croatian Picnic Grounds, 4204 Smith Stewart Road, Vienna. The day will start with a procession and Mass at 11 a.m. celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Rudjak, pastor, followed by music and dance performances.
