Canfield

The Rotary Club of Canfield invited scholarship recipients and their parents to a regular meeting recently to honor and present scholarship checks.

Scholarship committee member Tom Danko and Canfield Rotary president Michael Raulin made the presentations. Honorees included Brianne Rothbauer, who is headed to Kent State University; Gia Velasquez, who is going to Yale University; Olivia Johntony, who will attend Ohio Northern University; and Emily Gleichert, who will be a student at the University of Michigan.

Valasquez was the recipient of the Myron Ullman Scholarship, and Gleichert was awarded the Al Coulson Scholarship.

These two scholarships commemorate local individuals who have made significant contributions over the years to the Rotary Club of Canfield.

A committee of Rotarians meets annually to choose the scholarship winners and to recognize several graduating seniors for their local contributions to our community.

Rotary has a long tradition of working with young people, by awarding scholarships, by sponsoring a high school Interact Club and by partnering with youth groups in several of their service projects.
