A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:
HUBBARD
July 28
Theft: A Wendemere Drive man reported lawn ornaments stolen from his front yard.
Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a residence and garage in the 300 block of Westview Avenue.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 500 block of West Liberty Street. A checkbook was missing.
July 30
Criminal mischief: Someone painted a stripe on a vehicle in the 300 block of Princeton Avenue.
Menacing: A South Main Street man reported getting such calls.
July 31
Harassment: A Taylor Street man said his daughter’s former boyfriend has been making unwanted calls to her.
Aug. 1
Recovered property: An Ohio driver’s license was found on a front porch in the 200 block of Parish Avenue.
GIRARD
July 29
Burglary: Occurred in the 100 block of Morris Avenue. Two 26-inch TVs and a 19-inch TV were stolen, for a $750 loss.
Burglary: A $50 baby toy was taken from a home someone had broken into in the 200 block of East Prospect Street.
Theft: A worker for a North State Street business discovered $350 had been removed from his wallet.
July 30
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A South Elruth Court woman reported her former husband took her 1989 Jaguar XJS without permission.
Possible arson: Police assisted firefighters with a car fire next to a set of railroad tracks near Harry Street and Hartzell Avenue. A man was seen emerging from a nearby wooded area shortly before the fire, a report said.
Arrest: Officers responded to a possible domestic situation in the 200 block of Louis Circle, then took 18-year-old Amanda R. McCurdy, 292 Louis Circle, into custody on a misdemeanor warrant.
Menacing: An East Prospect Street man said his landlord challenged him to a fight during a dispute regarding money owed to the landlord.
July 31
Criminal mischief: The owner of Mahoning Country Club Inc., 710 E. Liberty St., noticed damage to a green after a juvenile had been seen recklessly driving a golf cart.
Theft: A $200 global-positioning-system unit was stolen from a car in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue.
Aug. 1
Criminal mischief: Someone apparently opened a tank truck’s drain valve, causing a liquid that smelled of diesel fuel to flow from a parking lot in the 300 block of South State Street to a storm sewer. The fire department also was summoned.
Recovered property: A $275 boys bicycle was found after it had been reported stolen in the 400 block of St. Clair Avenue.
Theft: Seventeen catalytic converters were stolen from B&M Auto Sales Inc., 1429 S. State St., costing the business about $6,800.
Theft: A $100 speaker was taken from a vehicle at a West Broadway Avenue business.
LIBERTY
July 28
Arrest: Police pulled over 30-year-old Turhon R. Campbell in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue. Turhon, of Catonsville, Md., was arrested after officers found out he was wanted by Berrien County, Mich., authorities on a felony charge of trafficking in narcotics.
Drugs: Police pulled over a 16-year-old Girard boy on state Route 193 and charged him with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after saying a small bag of suspected marijuana and a digital scale with a green leafy material were found.
Vandalism: A man returned to his Naylor-Lloyd Road home and saw that someone had cut and destroyed much of his clothing, along with a pair of boots, a hat and a leather coat. The loss came to $1,000.
Theft: An official with National College, 3487 Belmont Ave., reported at least 13 missing textbooks, including a few that reportedly had been sold at a Youngstown bookstore.
Arrest: Police charged Brenda L. Ware, 53, of 1601 McGuffey Road, Youngstown, with obstructing official business, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension. She was arrested during a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue. Ware, who police said had a suspected crack pipe, also provided a phony name, a report showed.
Arrest: A traffic stop on Youngstown-Hubbard Road resulted in 30-year-old Brian L. Spayde’s arrest after police said a syringe was found. Spayde, of 58 Fairview St., Campbell, was charged with possession of a drug-abuse instrument and was wanted on a warrant.
Assault: A Belmont Avenue man reported a neighbor grabbed the accuser’s stepson’s neck and threw him on his back during a fight related to money owed.
July 29
Arrest: Police responded to a bad-check report at a Belmont Avenue business, where they took into custody 54-year-old David J. Ross, 383 W. Delason Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant from the city.
Arrest: Authorities pulled over a car in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue, where they charged 25-year-old Antony Ross, 829 Church Hill Road, Liberty, with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor. Ross failed to mention that he had a loaded gun and a permit, which was in violation of the state’s concealed-carry law, a report said.
Drugs: Aaron M. Bradley, 25, of 980 S. Keelridge Road, Hermitage, Pa., was charged with possession of a drug-abuse instrument after having been stopped on state Route 304. A syringe with suspected heroin residue was found, police said.
July 30
Criminal damaging: Several rocks were thrown at a car in the 4600 block of Michigan Boulevard, resulting in damage to its windshield, roof and other areas, and a $1,000 estimate.
Theft: An employee of a Belmont Avenue restaurant reported his wallet missing from a locker.
Felonious assault/criminal damaging: A man at a Belmont Avenue gas station told police he broke a vehicle’s window, but only after the driver had tried to run over him.
July 31
Theft: A North Gate Road man reported a 16-gauge shotgun and two air rifles stolen from his vehicle. The theft came to $522.
Criminal damaging: Two windows were broken at a vacant mobile home in the 20 block of James Lane.
Recovered property: A Logan Way woman found an envelope with a cashier’s check, a book of checks and a letter that belonged to a Youngstown man.
Aug. 1
Misuse of a credit card: A Ventura Drive man learned two $15 unauthorized purchases were made with his debit card.
Assault: A woman at a residence in the 1600 block of Keefer Road alleged her former boyfriend grabbed her arms and tossed her to the ground after becoming enraged about a text message.
Recovered property: A Mansell Drive woman recovered her 1997 Buick vehicle at the home of a Youngstown man who she said had taken the car for repairs but never returned it. The vehicle was found with fictitious license plates, a report showed.
