The Canfield Board of Education unanimously voted Thursday to put a new five-year, 4.9-mill operating levy on the November ballot.
If approved by voters, the levy would generate $2.7 million a year for the district and increase a homeowner’s yearly tax $104.12 in 2012 for a $100,000 home but be reduced to $73.50 in 2013-16.
The district will submit the resolution to the Mahoning County Board of Elections by Wednesday. The district’s operating expenses exceeded its revenues by $1.2 million last year.
