Man shot during family argument in Brookfield

Staff report

BROOKFIELD

A 21-year-old Syme Street man was treated Wednesday night for a gunshot wound to the arm he suffered at his home during a family argument.

Anthony Munger, of 463 Syme St., was taken to Sharon Regional Health Center on Wednesday and then was transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center. His injuries appear to be nonlife-threatening, said Brookfield Township Police Chief Dan Faustino.

The other man involved, William C. Thomas, 49, also of 463 Syme, suffered three cuts to his face and went to Greenville Regional Hospital for treatment.

Thomas eventually was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh, where a Brookfield Township police officer accompanied him, Faustino said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Thomas charging him with felonious assault, and authorities plan to extradite Thomas to Ohio to face that charge, Faustino said.

Police were called to the address on Syme at 7:57 p.m. for a family argument over the death of Munger’s dog, Faustino said.

Faustino said he doesn’t know how Thomas got his facial cuts or whether Munger and Thomas are related.
