Concerned citizen interrupts robbery
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown police are investigating the reported robbery of an “extremely intoxicated” man on the city’s North Side.
Reports say the 29-year-old victim, who police describe as very intoxicated at the time of the incident, was walking down Belmont Avenue just before 9 a.m. Thursday when he was approached by another man asking for money. The victim said he told the man he had no money, but offered him a beer instead.
Reports say the man knocked the victim to the ground and struck him several times before taking $80 from the victim’s pockets. The thief ran off when a concerned citizen stopped to see what was going on.
