STATE COLLEGE, Pa.

A woman who was wanted on a warrant in Ohio is in Centre County jail on aggravated assault and other charges after Pennsylvania State Police said she resisted arrest.

About 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, state police stopped a car for speeding and determined that the driver, Lauren M. Whatley, 21, of Youngstown, was wanted in Ohio. It’s not clear why she was wanted.

When troopers tried to take her into custody, she kicked, bit and scratched them, police reported.

Whatley also gave troopers a false identification and was in possession of two false credit cards, police said.

In addition to aggravated assault, she was arraigned on charges of simple assault, access-device fraud, identity theft and harassment.

She was sent to the Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
