Ohio gets $200K respite-care grant
COLUMBUS
Ohio Department of Aging has received a $200,000 Lifespan Respite Care Program grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging. The department will partner with the Ohio Children and Family First Council, the Ohio Respite Coalition and others to expand efforts to support caregiver respite at all ages and to promote respite as a valuable tool in supporting family caregivers who form the backbone of the state’s long-term care system.
The three-year grant will support the recently formed Ohio Respite Coalition to better coordinate existing respite services, identify areas lacking respite services and create the appropriate services for caregivers of older adults as well as those who care for children and adults of any age with special needs. Ohio will contribute approximately $68,000 to the project in the in-kind commitment of staff time and resources.
