Howland assisted-living facility briefly evacuated for gas leak

HOWLAND — A wing of the Shepherd of the Valley assisted living center on North River Road was evacuated at 3:50 p.m. today because of a gas leak.

The township fire department said a gas meter was stuck, venting gas. The fire department ran fans and called Dominion East Ohio Gas. Gas company crews fixed the meter, and residents were returned to the facility near 5:30 p.m.
