Grave Digger returning to area for Thunder Jam

Grave Digger, the top draw in the monster truck world, will make its only Youngstown-area appearance of the year at Thunder Jam, which will be Saturday at Quaker City Motorsports Park near Salem.
Superstar driver Randy Brown will pilot the world-famous machine in a drag race against jet-powered, flame-spitting Jersey Thunder, with speeds approaching 300 mph.
Jersey Thunder also will take on the Mustang-bodied Super Cobra in a practice run. The one-night-only show will end with a burnout contest by the Supercharged Warriors group.
Tickets are $20 ($5 for children 12 and under), and a coupon for a $5 discount is available at participating Taco Bell locations.
Gates open at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the racing program starting at noon, and Grave Digger performs at 7 p.m. Go to quakercitymotorsportspark.com for more info.
Fans can see the 12,000- pound Grave Digger, and driver Randy Brown, at two pre-race parties Friday. The truck will be at the Taco Bell at 15924 state Route 170 in Calcutta from 2 to 4 p.m., before heading to the pre-race party at Chili’s Grill and Bar at U.S. Route 224 and Market Street in Boardman.
